How to plan the perfect vacation

Thinking about going on vacation? You should. It’s good for your mental and physical health, and it makes work worthwhile. However, without the proper planning, your vacation might turn into a flop. Here’s how to plan the perfect vacation.

Choose a region & time of year

There are many different kinds of vacation packages. The ideal location and time of year depending on what you’re looking for. For example, if you want to relax, the perfect place would be somewhere sunny. If you’re looking for adventure, consider a location with plenty of activities.

Find the perfect amount of time away

Do you have an abundance of free time? Or are you strapped for cash, and can only afford a weekend getaway? Either way, there’s probably the perfect length of vacation for you. For example, if money is tight (less than $500), then you should at most spend 4 days away from home. However, if you have months of paid vacation, then you can probably afford to be away from home for the whole summer.

Get your home ready

If you have roommates, pets, plants, or children who rely on you for food and company, then you’re going to need to get them ready for when you leave. For example, if you have pets then you should consider putting them in pet boarding in Phoenix.

Book your tickets & accommodations

If you bought your plane ticket early, then congratulations! You just saved money. However, if you haven’t bought a plane ticket yet, that’s not a problem either – there are many websites where you can compare prices from different airlines until you find a good deal.

Pack your bags

You’ve made all of the necessary preparations, but now it’s time to pack up and head for the airport. Make sure that you don’t forget any essential items by carefully going over what you brought with you before checking out.

Plan a return trip

Before you leave on your trip, make sure that you have a tentative plan in place for when you want to come back. You don’t want to miss out on time with family and friends; nor do you want to spend all of your holiday money before you even get there! Also, make sure to save enough for your next trip when you get back.

Plan out activities

This is perhaps the most fun part of your trip, but it can also be the most expensive. There are plenty of free activities that you can do to keep costs down, even on a vacation. For example, you can visit parks or historical landmarks for free!

Or plan to do nothing

Not every moment on your trip needs to be planned out. Sometimes, the best part about vacations is just relaxing and taking your time. On your next trip, consider seeing what you can do without a plan for once. You might be surprised at how much fun you have!

Consider going tech-free

Modern technology is great, but it also comes with many distractions that take you away from your vacation. So consider turning off your devices for the week, and unplugging yourself entirely. It’ll be hard at first, but after a while, you’ll forget all about what was so important on social media or messaging apps.
