When To Wear Hearing Protection
The ear drum is so sensitive to sound and the moment it is exposed to too much noise, you will definitely get an effect. Sound had strong waves, so if it is not controlled, it will damage your ear drum and affect your hearing ability. People who work in places with too much noise like factories, mining areas, discos, airports and firing squads should always wear these hearing protection devices.
Below are steps on when to wear hearing protection:
Step 1: Wear hearing protection when you go to areas with too much noise. Most of these places have ”Noise Caution Signs” that will warn you about the strong noise in the area.Being exposed to excessive noise will damage your hearing ability, that is why it its very important to read ”Caution Signs” before you go to a noisy place.
You can simply wear earmuffs as you can see in the sign below. These earmuffs can be found in most hardware stores. An earmuff can fit over the entire outer ear which forms an air seal in that the all entire circumference of the ear canal is blocked. You can wear earmuffs like headphones.

Step 2:You can wear wear hearing protection when your exposed to loud music. Some people can not handle lound music. So the best thing to do is to wear Earplugs. These are not as big as earmuffs, earplugs are small in size and can be inserted into the outer ear canal. But they have to be sealed snugly so that the entire circumference of the ear canal is blocked. Make sure that the earplug is not dirty and not worn-out. If the plug is worn out then it will not seal the all ear and noise will find its way to the ear drum.
You can easily find these earplugs in hardware stores or protective wear stores. They come in various sizes and shapes to fit anyone who needs them. If you find them uncountable in the ear, then you can as well to a headband.
